The edition’s showstopper is a 10.2 inch figurine of Fane, a member of the new, skeletal Undead race, the game’s final playable faction. He’s wearing the nifty Mask of the Shapeshifter, which lets him transform his appearance to look like other races – all you have to do is combine it with a freshly ripped-off face. The collector’s edition also comes with Fane’s actual interchangeable skeleton head, which is appropriately spooky.
There’s actually a lot of other good stuff included in the boxset, too. For starters, there’s a lot of reading material, with an instruction manual, a 120-page book, Chronicles of Reaper’s Coast, and a 160-page Compendium of Rivellonian artwork. There’s also a map of Reaper’s Coast, and to top it off, it all comes in a pretty box, showing off the four different Rivellonian races. This can be used as a stand for the Fane figure, or you can use the reverse as a dungeon master’s screen. You can see a full unboxing in the video above.
The collector’s edition comes with the announcement of the undead race, and some of their unique in-game mechanics. Undeads like Fane will be able to play dead to get out of combat, are healed by poisons (and poisoned by healing potions), and can pick locks with their bony fingers. Because of your bony visage, however, you’ll need to disguise yourself using the aforementioned mask, lest you terrify unsuspecting citizens. You can find out more about the undead on the Divinity: Original Sin II Kickstarter page.
