How do you reach the Dragon’s Dogma 2 true ending? After a pretty terrifying battle sequence, you might think that you’ve reached the end of Dragon’s Dogma 2, but you couldn’t be more wrong. While the credits might roll, this doesn’t signal the end of the game unless you make the wrong decisions at this point.

You won’t find the Dragon’s Dogma 2 true ending by scouring every corner of the Dragon’s Dogma 2 map, nor will you find it by encountering a specific one of the Dragon’s Dogma 2 enemies. We’ve got all you need to know on how to unlock the true ending below.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this guide contains major spoilers for the ending of Dragon’s Dogma 2, although we have not discussed story content.

How to get the true ending in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To get the true ending in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you must use the Empowered Godsbane Blade on yourself from your inventory while climbing around the Dragon’s heart area as you ride on its back before the final battle.

Sacrificing yourself while riding the dragon will also kill the dragon, sending you both into the water. While the dragon is consumed by the brine, you’re transported to a room with the Pathfinder. He explains that you’re being sent to the Unmoored World, where you can experience the game’s true ending.

We won’t ruin the story for you, but we’ll help you on your journey to completing the game by highlighting each step you need to take in the Unmoored World. Keep in mind that you only have seven days to do everything before being sent back to new game plus.

Here’s what you need to do in the Unmoored World in Dragon’s Dogma 2:

  • Reunite with your Pawn by completing the ‘Dreams Apart’ quest.
  • Complete both ‘Hall of the First Dawn’ and ‘A Scholarly Pursuit’.
  • Use the Godsbane Blade on the rest of the red beacons scattered across the map.
  • Use the Godsbane Blade on the final beacon that appears in Seafloor Shrine to end the game.

How to get the good ending in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Instead of stabbing yourself with the Godsend Blade, slay the dragon when it drops you off at the battlefield. A cutscene will play, showing your character at a royal presentation as you become the new King or Queen of the kingdom. Fear not, however, as there’s a way to obtain the true ending even after you’ve managed to slay the dragon.

Speak with the Pathfinder at the palace to return to the scene before the battle, giving you another shot at achieving the true ending. If you can’t find him before the credits roll, load your game from the last save. For this reason, we’d strongly advise a manual save before seeking out the dragon fight. The Pathfinder takes you back in time right before the final battle, giving you a chance to sacrifice yourself while holding onto the dragon.

Now that you know how to unlock the true ending, you might be wondering which of the Dragon’s Dogma 2 vocations to try your next playthrough with. Dragon’s Dogma 2 new game plus comes with many benefits, but there’s no return after you select it, so be sure to have experienced the proper ending before doing so.
