EVE Valkyrie is a real thing and it’s coming in 2014

CCP are pressing their claim to the virtual reality pie with the announcement of EVE Valkyrie, a dogfighting game set in the EVE universe that utilises the Oculus Rift. It started out as a tech demo, first shown at this years EVE fanfest and E3. Now it’s going to be a fully fledged game (totally thanks to us), and it’s coming in 2014.

Here’s the announcement video:

The boss of CCP, Hilmar Petursson, was quite excited by the whole thing according to IGN:

“From the moment this year’s Fanfest attendees first got their hands on EVE-VR, the question has been, ‘When can I have this?’” said Petursson. “What started as a passion project by a small, incredibly talented group of CCP developers became one of the most highly anticipated games of the year — before we even announced it. We have big plans for EVE: Valkyrie and I can’t wait to share more details later this year.”

Keep an eye out for more Valkyrie news, as our boys over in Cologne will certainly be giving it a go.
