People really love fishing in Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 fishing

Far Cry 5 is playable at E3 and there’s a lot in the demo to chew on. Ubisoft Montreal are giving attendees access to huge swathes of Montana to roam about, weapons to play with, and guns-for-hire to call upon. But some of them are simply fishing.

Could Far Cry 5 be the best FPS of 2018?

“Some people are just wandering over to the nearest lake,” creative director Dan Hay tells us in the video interview above. “And they’re loving it. That’s the thing we’re seeing at E3 that is really interesting. They’re playing it for 30 or 45 minutes and it’s creating this sense of what we experienced.”

During development of Far Cry 5, the team visited Montana, you see, and they, too, went fishing.

“We had all these interesting experiences, and we really realised that it’s like a piece of music,” Hay enthuses. “It’s not that you’re going to be running and gunning the whole time. There are going to be people who just want to drive a classic muscle car down the road with some badass music playing, or get in a big rig, or a plane. Or just go hunting, or go fishing.

“You’re in Montana, and it’s the little things that make it feel very real. Whether it’s hunting, whether it’s fishing, whether it’s going out with Boomer.”

Boomer, by the way, is the name of your new dog. Man’s unkillable best friend. And yes, there’s a Far Cry dog cosplay guide. I knew you were wondering.
