Update, January 4 2018: Blizzard’s apologetic Hearthstone giveaway is now live.

Last month, Blizzard announced they’d be giving away a handful of Kobolds & Catacombs card packs as an apology for server issues around the launch of the expansion. That promotion is now live.

Next time you log into Battle.net, your gift icon should be lit up. Click it and you’ll have the opportunity to claim three free Kobolds & Catacombs packs. The packs will then appear the next time you launch Hearthstone. The promotion lasts until February 5, so don’t delay too long.

Original story, December 21 2017:Kobolds & Catacombs has been a hit for Hearthstone, especially with the excellent single-player challenges ofDungeon Run. But that popularity has meant some unfortunate server troubles, and Blizzard are apologising by way of a trio of free card packs.

Since the launch of Kobolds & Catacombs, there have been frequent delays to the rollout of new daily quests, which Blizzard community manager Jesse Hill attributes largely “to the unexpected impact that so many Dungeon Runs had on our services.” There are hotfixes in place, and the delay is reduced, but it’s not quite 100% gone yet.

If you’re still having issues, Blizzard recommend checking your quest log 10-30 minutes after logging in following the quest reset, manually refreshing the quest log, or playing games in standard or Arena mode.

“We’re currently working on short-term solutions that should soon make these additional steps unnecessary,” says Hill, “and we plan on implementing better long-term solutions in the new year.”

So in apology for the delay – and the delay of fixes for the delay – Blizzard are giving everyone three Kobolds & Catacombs card packs “in early January.” They’ll appear as gifts in Battle.net, which you can then claim to have them appear in-game.
