Pillars of Eternity: The White March out now – come have some launch trailer

Pillars of Eternity White March launch

Thought you’d bested gargantuan RPG Pillars of Eternity, did you? Well, watch it smugly magnify in front of you as part 1 of Obsidian’s The White March expansion goes live today. New quests and environments, higher level caps for all party members, and a 2.0 base game update all cast a ‘come hither’ glance to the lapsed Pillars player.

Part 1 of The White March promises “a large sprawling expansion pack with hours of gameplay integrated into the main adventure,” say Obsidian, featuring snowy environs inspired by vintage Infinity Engine RPG Icewind Dale, and a higher level cap for all party members, up from 12 to 14.

Soulbound weapons are also included, growing more powerful over time and offering different attriutes depending on the class of their wielder. Several new abilities are also showcased in The White March’s launch trailer. You can take a closer look at those environments and weapons in Pillars of Eternity: The White March’s previous trailers.

Two new party members join the game: Zahua, a monk with a face like a griddle pan, and a rogue who goes by ‘The Devil of Caroc’ and has a steampunk mannequin look about her.

Developers Obsidian have been tinkering under PoE’s hood too, advancing the game version to 2.0: “Along with the new quests and area content, the team at Obsidian continues to support and make improvements to the entire game, including the additions of Player Party AI and Enhanced Enemy AI.” Ooh, and you can re-spec characters at any inn or tavern now. Handy.

Pillars of Eternity: The White March part 1 is available on Steam and GOG. It’s also one of the best PC RPGs ever.
