The second ever Heroes of the Storm collegiate tournament - with the puntastic name: Heroes of the Dorm - will return on March 19 and again offer North American students the chance to win over $500,000 in tuition fee payments and prizes. It’s also set to air live on ESPN for a second year running, despite some rather modest viewership figures in 2015.

Last year, US sports channel ESPN2 aired the Heroes of the Dorm final where it received 0.1 on the Nielsen television ratings scale, according to American broadcaster John Ourand. This means just 0.1 percent of folk watching TV at that time tuned in, which doesn’t seem great - particularly given the fact ratings site Zap2it suggest repeats of shows like Law and Order and SpongeBob Squarepants fared better that same day.
That’s not to say folk didn’t watch the Dorm finals - Twitter and social media channels saw many-a-Heroes fan tune in, and it’s also worth noting that a new-at-the-time episode of Game of Thrones aired in the States that evening too.
This year, the tourney’s first four rounds will feature on ESPN3, but are also available to stream via Twitch and YouTube. The final stages - when just four contestants remain - will be broadcast live across April 9 and 10 on ESPN2.
