When you get right down to it, there’s nothing more frightening than art. After all, what could be more unsettling than a twisted version of our own hopes and fears reflected back at us? (The answer, of course, is Twitter the night after a new Star Wars comes out.) Layers of Fear is a psychedelic haunted house all about a tormented artist, and it just so happens to be free on Humble for the next two days.
You likely know the drill by now. Head to the Humble Store, claim your game, and you’ll soon receive an easily redeemable Steam key for the title in question. This edition of Layers of Fear also includes the soundtrack from composer Arkadiusz Reikowski, perfect for when you need to set a thoroughly disturbing and entirely unpleasant mood.
The promotion lasts for roughly another 42 hours as of this writing, so get to scaring while the scaring’s good. If you’re eager for more free stuff, it seems Ubisoft have extended their Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag giveaway along with a few other titles.
Layers of Fear is a bit more theme park ride than videogame, but it ended up being one of the more consistent of Steam’s indie horror titles, successful enough for developers Bloober Team to bring in Rutger Hauer to voice the cyberpunk follow-up, Observer.
