League of Legends patch 8.7: Irelia Rework and Lancer Stratus Wukong

LoL Patch 8.7

League of Legends’ next big content patch is 8.7, introducing a newly-reworked Irelia, as well as a host of balance changes and bug fixes. Have a look below for all the information we’ve got.

LoL Patch 8.7 Release Date And Downtime

We don’t know the exact release date for patch 8.7 yet, but the schedule is bi-weekly so expect it on Wednesday April 4. We’ll update when Riot do, but keep an eye on theserver maintenance pagefor the latest updates.

LoL Patch 8.7 Champion Rework: Irelia

Irelia reworkIrelia, the Blade Dancer, gets a rework in patch 8.7, with a new VO, character model, and of course, new abilities. She retains some of her mobility and tankiness, but is a much more complex champion than before.


  • Base HP: 580
  • HP Growth: 85
  • HP Regen Growth: 0.17
  • Base AD: 63
  • AD Growth: 4
  • Attack speed growth: 2.5
  • Mana Growth: 30
  • Armor Growth: 3
  • Magic Resist: 32
  • Auto Attack Range: 200
  • Movement Speed: 340

Ionian Fervor (P):

  • “When Irelia hits enemies with her abilities, she gains a stack of Ionian Fervor for 6 seconds. Her basic attacks deal bonus damage, scaling with 2-4% of her total AD, per stack (max 4 stacks).
  • At max stats, Ionian Fervor also grants 20/30/40% attack speed amd deals 300% damage to shields.
  • Ionian Fervor’s duration is refreshed when Irelia attacks a champion. An ability will grant multiple stacks if it hits multiple champions.

Bladesurge (Q):

  • Mana cost: 20
  • Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds
  • Irelia dashes to an enemy, dealing10/30/50/70/90 (+80% AD) physical damage, applying on-hit effects and healing for [12/14/16/18/20% AD] health. Bladesurge’s cooldown is reset if the target was Marked or dies to Bladesurge. Bladesurge deals 60% bonus damage to non-champions.

Defiant Dance (W):

  • Mana cost: 70/75/80/85/90
  • Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 seconds
  • First Cast: Irelia aligns her blades into a defensive formation, gaining45/50/55/60/65% (+10% AP) damage reduction and a stack of Ionian Fervor but becoming unable to act.
  • Second Cast: Irelia swipes her blades, dealing 10/30/50/70/90 (+40% AD) (+45% AP) physical damage. Damage increases with charge time, up to 20/60/100/140/180 (+120% AD) (+90% AP) after .75 seconds.
  • Defiant Dance cannot be interrupted.

Flawless Duet (E):

  • Mana cost: 50
  • Cooldown: 14/13/12/100/10 seconds.
  • Irelia readies 2 blades that will fly towards each other once placed, dealing 80/120/160/200/240 (+90% AP) magic damage and stunning for .8/.9/1/1.1/1.2 seconds. Champions and large monsters are Marked for 6 seconds. Flawless Duet deals 50% damage to monsters.

Vanguard’s Edge (R):

  • Mana cost: 100
  • Cooldown: 120/105/90 seconds
  • Irelia launches a storm of blades that explode outward upon hitting a champion. The blades deal 150/275/400 (+70% AP) magic damage and Mark champions and large monsters for 6 seconds. Irelia then forms the blades into a wall for 2.5/3/3.5 seconds. Passing through the wall deals 125/200/275 (+70% AP) magic damage, slows by 60% and disarms for 2 seconds. Disarmed enemies cannot basic attack.

LoL Patch 8.7 Balance Changes

That out of the way, let’s start with the really important bit, shall we? What you need to remember is that stuff on the PBE like this is neither guaranteed to happen, nor to be in the next patch even if it does. This is what the folks over at Riot are thinking about doing. We’ve got the numbers on what’s changing, and a general guideline on which way each champion, item, mastery, summoner spell or rune is moving.

Patch 8.7 Champion Changes

Elise – buffed


  • Venomous Bite (Spider Q):
    • Damage increased to 70/110/150/190/230 from 60/100/140/180/220.
  • Cocoon (Human E):
    • Cooldown decreased to 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 seconds from 14/13/12/11/10 seconds.

Gragas –buffed

Gragas balance changes

  • Barrel Roll (Q):
    • AP ratio increased to 70% from 60%.
  • Drunken Rage (W):
    • AP ratio increased to 50% from 30%.
    • New effect: damage reduction is now increased by an additional 4% for every 100 AP, for 2 seconds.

Hecarim – buffed


  • Spirit of Dread (W):
    • Heal increased to 30% from 20%.

Ivern –buffed

Ivern balance changes

  • Brushmaker (W):
    • Range increased to 1000 units from 850 units.
  • Daisy! (R):
    • Daisy enetering the fray bonus movement speed increased to 33% from 25%.

Karthus – buffed


  • Lay Waste (Q):
    • Damage increased to 50/70/90/110/130 from 40/60/80/100/120.

Kayn – changed


  • The Darkin Scythe (P):
    • Increased the amount of points gained from interacting with enemy champions pre-10 minutes.
    • Decreased the amount of points gained from interacting with enemy champions post-15 minutes.

Lux –buffed

Lux balance changes

  • Final Spark (R):
    • Cooldown refund on kill increased to 30/40/50% from 10/30/50%.
    • New effect: Now triggers on enemy champs who die within 1.75 seconds of being hit by R.

Malphite –buffed

Malphite balance changes

  • AD per level increased to 4 from 3.375.
  • Ground Slam (E):
    • AP ratio increased to 60% from 20%.
  • Unstoppable Force (R):
    • Cooldown decreased to 130/105/80 seconds from 130/115/100 seconds.

Nocturne –buffed

  • Duskbringer (Q):
    • Bonus AD increased to 20/30/40/50/60 from 15/25/35/45/55.

Olaf – nerfed


  • Ragnarok (R):
    • Haste towards enemy champions decreased to 20/45/70% from 50/60/70%.

    • Stun duration changed to1/1.15/1.3/1.45/1.6 seconds from1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2.0 seconds.

    • Damage decreased to 55/75/95/115/135 from 65/85/105/125/145.

Zed –buffed

Zed changes

  • Razor Shuriken (Q):
    • Secondary damage AD ratio increased to 54% from 45 %.
    • Secondary damage increased to 48/69/90/110/132 from 40/57/75/92/110.

Guinsoo’s Rageblade –nerfed

  • Cost increased to 3300 from 3000.
  • Combine cost increased to 990 from 690.

Locket of the Iron Solarinerfed

  • Shield value decreased to [30 (+10 per level)] from [38 (+22 per level)]
    • Decreased to 30 (+15 per level) from 35 (+22 per level) forCirclet of the Iron Solari (Ornn Masterwork Item).
  • Bonus health decreased to 10-20% from 2-36%.
    • Decreased to 20% from 2-36% forCirclet of the Iron Solari (Ornn Masterwork Item)
  • Lockout time after being effected by another Locket increased to 20 seconds from 8 seconds.
  • Cooldown increased to 120 seconds from 90 seconds forCirclet of the Iron Solari (Ornn Masterwork Item).
  • New effect: “While active, allies with this shield take 50% reduced damage from Area of Effect Damage.”

Ninja Tabinerfed

  • Armour decreased to 20 from 30.

Relic Shieldnerfed

  • Gold per 10s decreased to 1 from 2.

  • Gold Value Growth per 90 seconds (3 waves) increased to 3 from 0.35.
  • Base Health increased to 900 from 828.
  • Health Growth per 90 seconds (3 waves) increased to 50 from 23.
  • Health Growth per 90 seconds (3 waves) beginning at wave 16 increased to 60 from 32.
  • Health bar size visually increased

Super Minions

  • Base Gold Value increased to 60 from 45.
  • Gold Value Growth per 90 seconds (3 waves) increased to 3 from 0.35.

Melee Minions

  • Base Gold Value increased to 21 from 20.
  • Gold Value Growth per 90 seconds (3 waves) decreased to 0 from 0.125.

Caster Minions

  • Base Gold Value decreased to 14 from 17.
  • Gold Value Growth per 90 seconds (3 waves) decreased to 0 from 0.125.

LoL Patch 8.7 New Skins

Second most important: cosmetics. Lovely, gorgeous cosmetics. Bit more of a visual medium this, so we’ve grabbed the best videos of each skin, as well as a lovely pic or two. Some are relatively simple changes, while others are total reworks of every part of the champion outside the gameplay numbers – new VO, new animations, new particles and the rest. It’s generally defined by how much they cost, so we’ve detailed that as well.

LoL Patch 8.7 Login Screen

Each patch has its own login screen with unique music. They’re always fairly excellent, though 8.7’s hasn’t appeared yet – expect it in the next week or so. It will likely be based around the Irelia rework.
