The trailer reintroduces a lot of characters that first appeared in Life is Strange. Chloe, her mother Joy, and her stepfather David feature heavily, with David in particular likely to play an important part. Antagonist Nathan Prescott also makes an appearance in the trailer.
The most important character, however, is undoubtedly Rachel Amber, whose disappearance is a significant plot arc in the first game. Life is Strange: Before the Storm is about how Chloe and Rachel meet, and how important their relationship is to the grieving Chloe.
If you need a brief summary to catch up on how Before the Storm relates to Life is Strange, here you go:
Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a prequel to the popular episodic game. Set three years before the events of the first game, Before the Storm focuses on Chloe Price, rather than the original game’s Max Cauldwell. The game won’t contain Max’s time-travel abilities, but lets Chloe work her way through the game with some more real-world skills of her own.
The first episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm, ‘Awake’, will be released on August 31. The game will contain music from English folk Band Daughter.
