Ni No Kuni 2 has a 48-year-old character to help older players connect with the story

Ni No Kuni II Combat

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom’s latest trailer focuses on the game’s supporting cast and introduces us to several new characters.

Will Ni no Kuni 2 make the shortlist of our best RPGs?

According toVideoGamer, President Roland was created to enable older players to better connect with the story, as otherwise the sequel features a fairly young cast. While Roland isn’t ancient, he nevertheless clocks in at 48 years old. But who am I to question the big demographic missing in the middle there, eh?

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom features a whole new cast and takes place hundreds of years after the original game. Roland, a president from Ichi no Kuni, is transported to Ni no Kuni and eventually becomes a trusted companion of Evan, the deposed king of Ding Dong Dell.

For the latest on Roland and crew – including our first peek at Nerea, queen of Thalassea, and Leander, her adviser – check out the new trailer above, released especially for Gamescom.

Level-5 have announced that Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will no longer be coming out in 2017, and pushed back the release date to January 19, 2018. We did recently see some fresh footage to tide us over, though. There is a super pricey King’s Edition to get, too, if you’ve got £140 just sitting around doing nothing.
