Surprise Overwatch Christmas comic gives Tracer a girlfriend and Widowmaker feelings

Overwatch

The latest Overwatch comic, Reflections, is out. This one is all about Tracer trying to secure a gift for her girlfriend. As you’d imagine, this has caused quite a stir on the internet. Aww, thanks loves.

In the comic, Tracer is dashing around London trying to grab a present for her significant other, but she’s not having much luck, despite her speed. It all works out in the end though, as they share a kiss that’s sure to make the LGBT community erupt with joy.

It might not seem like a big deal, but Tracer is Overwatch’s cover star. She featured heavily in promotional material and now she’s canonically gay, or bisexual. Either way, that’s a pretty big deal.

Now, remember when we got that Mercy voiceline changed? Well…

You can read the Overwatch Reflections comic at that link there. Unless you live in Russia, where Blizzard can’t make it available as, by their words (translated via Reddit): “We can’t share this comic with our Russian players because of Russian laws.”FIFA 17 recently came under fire for standing up for LGBT rights too.

Elsewhere in the comic, we get a glimpse at what the other heroes are doing this Christmas. My personal favourite is Reaper, who apparently stalks families while crouching in a rain-soaked alleyway. You do you, dude. Don’t let nobody hold you down. (It’s probably his family from before he turned into an emo shadowfiend, but whatevs.)

Then there’s Widowmaker, who’s spending Christmas by her husband’s grave. Even spiders have feelings, it seems. No wonder she just wants to stamp on men’s throats these days. In fact, maybe that’s how her husband went…

Here’s a non-animated version of the comic if you’d prefer.
