Blizzard say they’ll fix bug that shrinks Mei’s waist and makes her butt look big

Luna Mei

Overwatch’s Year of the Rooster event is now live, adding a bunch of new emotes, a new CTF mode, and, of course, some more skins. A couple of these skins have been causing quite a stir in the community, as they seem to shrink Mei’s waist noticeably.

Check out our Overwatch patch notes for 1.7 to get the lowdown on the mechanical tweaks.

Some have suggested this was done intentionally, in an attempt to make Mei more visually appealing. However, Blizzard have batted that accusation aside and claimed it’s caused by a bug. After watching this video, I’m inclined to agree.

Her model is clipping through itself, and her arse sticks out so far you’d think she was auditioning for a part in a Bee Movie sequel.

“There’s a bug with Mei’s Luna and Chang’e skins right now that’s causing her waist to appear much smaller than normal,” explains a community manager on the game’s forums.

“We’ve already fixed the bug internally, but it’s going to require a patch to implement (ideally it’ll be included in whatever next patch hits your gaming platform). Thanks for the quick reports, btw. And happy Lunar New Year!”

Look at that! Look how far her backside pokes out! Imagine the pain she’d be in, in real life. She would probably want to be cryogenically frozen again until we had the medical advances to put her right again.

Over to you, Dr. Blizzard.

Cheers, Kotaku.
