Pillars of Eternity was a truly excellent evolution of a classic RPG formula, and Obsidian’s sequel is poised to be just as successful. If you can’t wait to dig into Deadfire, there’s good news, as a new beta will allow you to dig into the game today – for a price, of course.
Check out everything we know about Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire.
If you backed Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire to the tune of $99 during the Fig campaign, or $115 through the current pledge system, you can get into the closed beta today. If you’ve backed at any tier – or you still want to – beta access can be purchased as a separate $20 add-on.
“Showing off all the new things we have added to Pillars of Eternity over the last two years is both exciting, and a bit scary,” says Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart. “However, it’s key to who we are as a developer to find out what our backers think, and then using that feedback to make Deadfire an even more amazing game.”
In addition to the launch of the beta, a new trailer shows off a bit of flavor, world-building, and gameplay, and confirms that the world is still suffering under the watchful eye of some not-so-benevolent deities.
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire had a wildly successful crowdfunding campaign on Fig, and with the support of Banner Saga publishers Versus Evil, it seems the game will have the help it needs to be another excellent throwback to RPGs of days past.
