Log into Sea of Thieves, get a Master Chief figurehead

Master Chief invades the Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is getting a full Halo-themed ship cosmetic set, complete with Spartan-themed sails, flags, and a Master Chief figurehead. You’ll be able to get all this stuff for free by logging into the game between June 10 – today, if you haven’t checked a calendar – and June 15. You can get a look at all the new cosmetics in the video below.

Alongside the Master Chief look, executive producer Joe Neate announced a new Sea of Thieves player count milestone. The game has topped 8.4 million players since launch, including two million new pirates since the game’s Anniversary update on April 30.

The developers have added plenty of cameos from other games in Sea of Thieves, though they’ve typically been from Rare’s own back catalogue rather from the broader Microsoft canon. We saw a Banjo-Kazooie figurehead hit the game last year, and even Joanna Dark is a now a ship cosmetic – just don’t expect either of them to appear in their own game any time soon.

Master Chief, however, will be front and center when the Halo Infinite release date hits late in 2020.

In the meantime, you can take a closer look at the new cosmetics above. Rare isn’t ready to announce any major new updates for Sea of Thieves just yet, but there’s still a lot to play around with from the Anniversary update.
