Before we break down each of her moves and give you some tips on beating her it’s vital we point out that – as with any boss encounter – there are some inherent story spoilers tied to this, so look away now if you still haven’t faced off against this yellow behemoth.

The most important tip we can give you is to make sure you’re using your traditional, single blade lightsaber instead of the double-bladed lightsaber you unlock shortly before this battle. The single lightsaber will deal a lot more damage and will reduce the Ninth Sister’s stamina significantly – it’s also easier to read parries with making it possible to take an aggressive approach with this boss.

One of the main moves to watch out for is her Force Pull, which leads to a damaging thrust attack. You can sidestep this, but it’s generally easier to dodge-roll out of there and reset rather than trying to read this follow-up.

If you spot the Ninth Sister charging at you then you’ll also need to dodge-roll, leaving you enough time to get a single strike in. Watch out during the second phase though, as she’ll chain two of these charges together, which is signposted by a slip following the initial charge.

Generally, if you stray too far from the boss she’ll slam her fist into the ground, causing a tremor to move across the arena. You can only evade this by using the Force Flip ability to leap over the wave.

The best way to win this fight is to stay aggressive, but Ninth Sister does have a few powerful close-range unblockable attacks, so be prepared to dodge after every attack. Whenever you’ve got Force to spare it’s worth throwing your lightsaber at her to massively reduce her stamina – an overhead strike works well, too.

That’s pretty much all there is to it. We found the biggest difference was using the traditional lightsaber over the staff variant, so if there’s one thing you take away from this, make sure it’s that. Otherwise, bide your time in this fight and default to dodge-rolls to be sure you’re safe from the Ninth Sister’s attacks.
