A big Stardew Valley update’s coming soon – here’s what it adds

The Stardew Valley 1.4 content update arrives later this month

Delightful farming sim Stardew Valley gets another big update packed with new features and fun later this month. The 1.4 content update is currently “in the final stages” and brings extra endgame goodies, a new screenshot feature, a kind of honeymoon for your married farmers, and more.

Developer ConcernedApe says the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.4 content update adds “a pretty big variety of new things” to the game, and while he’s keen not to spoil too much about it, there are some new features, tweaks, and expansions sure to please fans. “Content-wise, nearly every aspect of the game has been expanded or improved upon in some way,” he says, with highlights shared including a “unique 14-heart event” for every spouse following marriage. It’s not clear exactly what this is, but it sounds like it could be some kind of honeymoon-type event.

The update also brings the ability to catch double the number of fish with the improved Wild Bait, as well as a new screenshot button found in the game’s options menu that lets you take a scenic snap of your whole farm – or any other area in the game, if you like.

In addition, the dev says “there is more endgame stuff like that to keep things going a little further after you’ve completed everything,” and that he aims to “polish” the game and add “a lot of ‘quality of life’ features that will make the game more seamless to play.” There are also fixes for some bugs, and tweaks for “a lot of weird or annoying things about the controls and feel of the game.”

WHEN IS THE NEXT STARDEW VALLEY UPDATE?

Good news – it’s soon. Concerned Ape has announced that the next Stardew Valley update arrives November 26, and best of all, the 1.4 content update is also completely free.
