The Division 2’s minigun Specialization hits test servers tomorrow

The Gunner Specialization soon lays down suppressing fire

Ubisoft teased a minigun-based Specialization for The Division 2 ahead of the last big content update, and now we know much more about what to expect. The Gunner will be the first of the three Division 2 Specializations promised after launch, and it’s set to launch as part of Title Update 4 later this month.

If you own the Year 1 pass, you’ll have instant access to the Gunner when it launches. For everyone else, there’ll be a set of Special Field Research goals, which the developers describe in the announcement as “five stages of in-game challenges, each with their own set of objectives and rewards.”

The Gunner gets bonus armour based on the amount of Specialization ammo they’re carrying, letting them tank extra damage. They’ll need that armour, too, since they can’t enter cover, vault, or roll while the minigun is out. Gunners will also be able to draw other enemies out from cover using a signature skill called Banshee, which confuses targets and leaves them stumbling out into the open.

The Specialization also has a special Riot Foam grenade to trap enemies in place, and comes equipped with a P320 XCompact sidearm.

We’ll see much more about how the Gunner operates soon, as it’ll hit the Public Test Server on June 4 – and you won’t need the pass or the Special Field Research to give the Specialization a try there.
