Don’t support Morrowind’s Tamriel Rebuilt mod on Patreon – it’s a scam

After 16 years and the involvement of over 600 modders, an ambitious mod for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind has been hijacked by scammers looking to earn a swift buck on Patreon. So, public service announcement: don’t support a Patreon page for Tamriel Rebuilt.

It’s old, but for many, Morrowind is still one of the best RPGs on PC.

The mod’s developers say they “do not have, nor do we plan to have, a Patreon account at all.” They say they have alerted Patreon to the scam.

If you’d like to help them out in other ways, they need a hand finishing their grand work. If your hands are capable, here’s how you can join.

If you’re unfamiliar, Tamriel Rebuilt aims to add the Morrowind mainland to the game that bears its name in its subtitle. Bethesda’s original vision for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was to include the entirety of the Morrowind province, but this was ultimately scaled down – the final version contains Vvardenfell, a volcanic island in its centre.

Tamriel Rebuilt intends to deliver on that original vision, and recently celebrated its 16th anniversary. It’s free to download and play – click here to get started.
