Free games: Claim The Sims 4 and own it forever

The latest Sims title is the latest free game from Origin

The Sims 4 was a controversial entry in the series at launch, but by many accounts it’s blossomed into a fully-featured follow-up courtesy of plenty of free updates – and, of course, a mountain of DLC and expansion packs. Now you don’t have to pay a cent to get into the base game, either, since EA is temporarily giving it away for free.

You can grab The Sims 4 free over on Origin for the next week, from now until June 28. It’s just the base game, so you won’t get any of the additional expansions and paid content, but there’s still plenty to enjoy. Origin Access subscribers can already play the Digital Deluxe version of the game as part of the service, and folks who’ve opted for the Premier tier also get the Dine Out and Kids Room packs, too.

While the game itself is free, if you want to catch up on all the extra content that’s been release so far, you’re going to have to spend a very pretty penny. Our most recent calculations of the Sims 4 DLC price puts it around £485.73.

At least the giveaway will take some of that initial sting out.

The Sims 4 player count has continued to grow steadily over the years, and last year even saw a 35% increase in active Simmers. This promotion will likely make the next report on those numbers even more impressive.
