Halo: Spartan Assault coming to Steam

Halo: Spartan Assault is out now; here's our Halo: Spartan Assault review.

People do love those Halos, don’t they? If you are one of those Halo-lover who is also the owner of a PC, you may have contemplated grabbing Halo: Spartan Assault, which is kind of like the other Halos, but also a twin-stick top-down shooter. Unfortunately it was restricted to Microsoft’s consoles, Windows 8 phones - which are, not surprisingly, terrible for controlling games of this ilk - and Windows 8 PCs.

“No more!” Shouts Microsoft, pointing at its empty plate where a pile of money lathered in gravy once sat. It wants seconds, so you can now grab Halo: Spartan Assault even if you have Windows Vista. Imagine that. So it’s a big Halo party, and every OS from archaic Vista to 8.1 is invited.

The consensus seems to be that it’s “alright”. Authentically Halo, and a bit of arcade fun. If you already think the Halos are a bit guff, though, you’re probably not going to be converted.

You’ll be able able to grab it on Steam come April 4th if it sounds like your cup of space mari

Age of Empires II, Age of Mythology, now this game. Did MS finally realize that Steam is the way to go and that they should not develop another platform after GFW LIVE?

GFW Live only ever came to be due to when Vista was called Longhorn MS was working with the intent that it would be capable of running actual Xbox games, but in reality due to how consoles work it is never that simple to have console games "just run" on PC, but MS is pushing that way again with the unified UI and DX12 stuff.
