Topic of the Week: What was the most exciting thing you saw at GDC and PAX East?

Topic of the Week: GDC and PAX East

Last week was a bit bonkers. GDC and PAX East running one after the other, it was all rather exhausting. But there was a bounty of announcements, demos and presentations – some of which we’re still getting through.

For our Topic of the Week, we want to know what got your blood pumping, what games or tech you simply cannot stop going on about. Let us know what you’re most excited about from the two shows in the comments.

As always, I’ll get the ball rolling.

It’s VR. It always is. GDC saw Valve unveil its ambitious VR plans with the expansion of SteamVR and the announcement of the HTC Vive, and I can’t wait to see how it’s going to compete with the Rift.

But what I’m most interested in was what John Carmack was at GDC to talk about: mobile VR. He reckons that it’s the only way for VR to become ubiquitous, because it won’t come from gaming. Almost everyone has a phone, but far fewer play PC games

When Oculus VR started to get noticed, it was all about PC gaming, but the plan has always been to explore other areas, and that’s certainly something that Facebook wants. I’m just not sure if I’m comfortable with effectively blinding myself when I’m on the bus.

Anyway, that’s enough from me. Tell us what you saw at GDC or PAX that’s excited you the most.
