If you’re beyond eager to get your hands on Borderlands 3 – it has been a lot of years since the last game came out, after all – you can go the extra mile today to unlock cosmetics and weapons ahead of the game’s launch. The first set of rewards for the Vault Insider Program are live if you want to unlock them.
The program was announced some time ago, but today marks the start of VIP Season 1 and all the rewards it entails. It’s a pretty straightforward loyalty reward thing, where you earn points by completing surveys, watching trailers, and referring friends. It all ties into a SHiFT account, and you can get details on how to sign up from the official site.
With Season 1 live, you can now unlock special skins and heads for the Borderlands 3 Vault Hunters Amara and Moze. You can see the heads above – one’s a robot cat, and the other is… a pufferfish, I think? The heads will cost you 4000 points, while the skins will only cost 3000.
There are also a bunch of guns to unlock for 4000 points apiece in Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel, and that’s key to getting the special Borderlands 3 weapon, the Maliwan. You’ll have to unlock eight other guns from the VIP rewards system to get the Maliwan.
VIP Season 2 starts in July, and will bring additional rewards. Season 1 rewards will still be available after that point.

The Borderlands 3 release date is set for September 13, so that’s when you’ll be able to make use of the new unlocks. In the meantime, you can follow that link for details on everything we know about the game so far.
