You can now randomise Divinity: Original Sin 2’s combat

Larian brings some Gift Bag goodies too players today

Back in March, developer Larian started bringing ‘Gift Bags’ to Divinity: Original Sin 2 players – little updates that drop free features and goodies into the game throughout the year. Gift Bag three (‘Order and Magic’) has now arrived, and with it, an intriguing new way to shake up the RPG game’s combat – with a ‘Randomiser.’

According to a post on the Larian forums, the new feature will make the game’s combat just that bit more unpredictable – and potentially pretty challenging. “When entering combat, one or more random enemies will receive one of the new special statuses created specially for this feature,” the post reads.

“Think you know how a particular fight is going to go down? Not any more! This will change everything you thought you knew about combat, with each battle presenting a fresh new challenge.” Given that besting baddies and fending off foes in Larian’s CRPG turn-based combat is all about skill, planning, and maybe a little luck, this feature is sure to throw something very new into the mix.

That’s not all, though – there are some other exciting new Gift Bag goodies to check out, including a ‘Hagglers’ feature that helps everyone in your party pin down some sweet prices with traders, and a new way to streamline your inventory’s organisation with some bags.

Oh, and you can now make the Black Cat a follower (and use a whistle to retrieve it if it goes walkabout).

Best of all, the Gift Bag content is completely free, and you can opt in to as many or few of the new features as you like through the in-game menu. To grab them, all you’ve got to do is fire up Divinity: Original Sin 2 on your PC or Switch and they’ll automatically download.
