Immortals axe Dota 2 roster

Dota 2 patch 7.06e

Esports organization the Immortals has ended the contracts of their Dota 2 players, cutting five professional players loose this week. Two players announced on Twitter that they were looking for new teams, and the Immortals later confirmed that the Dota 2 team contracts weren’t being renewed.

“Immortals has opted not to extend the DOTA 2 contracts for the following players,” the organization posted on its official site. The players who have been released are: Doo Young ‘Dubu’ Kim, Noa ‘MP’ Pyo, Yong min ‘Febby’ Kim, Eric ‘Ryoya’ Dong, and Taesung ‘Velo’ Kim.

“We want to sincerely thank Dubu, MP, Febby, Ryoya, and Velo for their hard work and dedication, and wish them well as they continue their Dota careers,” Immortals CEO Noah Whinston said in the statement.

“New season. Thanks to Immortals for the awesome experience,” Eric Dong wrote on Twitter. “Also shoutout to all my teammates for an amazing year. Had a great time and learned a lot.”

It’s unclear at this time whether Immortals will field a Dota 2 team for the upcoming season. The team was founded a year ago, and has a 21-11 record for the season.

For his part, Dong is joining a new squad called Team Team, according to this retweet.

Dubu, meanwhile, has simply tweeted “LFT” – Looking for team.
