How do you complete the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Nation of the Lambent Flame quest? This is the last of the missions that Captain Brant gives you while you’re in Vernworth. Your initial plan to storm the coronation had a little setback, but now it’s time to go to the neighboring region of Battahl to find out more about the Godsway.

Of all the quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2 so far, this is perhaps the most taxing, as you need to make good use of camps, healing items, and knowing where to pick your battles. You’ll come across some scary Dragon’s Dogma 2 enemies along the way, so plotting a route on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 map will be handy. Once you’ve gathered your supplies, it’s time to leave town for the longest expedition yet, in the Nation of the Lambent Flame quest.

This guide contains spoilers for the Nation of the Lambent Flame quest and its rewards.

How to complete Dragon’s Dogma 2 Nation of the Lambent Flame quest

There are multiple routes to get to your destination, but we’ve found the quickest one with the least threats. We have a map above you can follow if you wish to take the quickest route possible to the quest area, so click on the image to maximize its size and follow the route as directed.

You want to take the bridge exit toward the northwest of Battahl and head down the main western road. Rather than go to Harve Village, as per the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Monster Culling quest, continue on the mountain path as it comes to a bridge.

As soon as you cross the bridge, you’ll begin to run into more difficult enemies, such as hobgoblins and bandits. You’ll also run into ogres and cyclopes more frequently and possibly stumble across a sleeping dragon or a frenzied griffin. Thankfully, the main road has lots of camps nearby, so if you need to rest after a difficult battle, you can do so if you have a camping kit in at least one party member’s inventory.

The Arisen and his pawn are passing through the Battahli border in Dragon's Dogma 2 Nation of the Lambent Flame quest.

Eventually, after what seems like miles of treacherous trekking across the valley, you’ll come across the border town. At this point, you should have a Battahl permit to pass the border guard on your person – Brant will gift you one at the beginning of the quest. If you don’t have a permit, you can pick up a convincing Battahli disguise at the shop in Checkpoint Rest Town on the border between Battahl and Vermund.

Lord Phaesus will pass by in his cart but won’t realize you are there. After passing through the border gate to Battahl, continue your way into the deserts and follow the main path.

Here, there are even more enemy variants, this time including black-feathered harpies, venomous saurians, and orc-like creatures that are tough to take down. Cyclopes also have armor and helmets that protect their weak spots, meaning they’re much trickier to defeat. The red wolf is the worst of the new beasts, as it’s speedy and can drag you away from your pawns to a hidden corner before pinning you down to gnaw at your flesh.

The Arisen and pawn are running away from a couple of Cyclopses and many orcs in Dragon's Dogma 2 Nation of the Lambent Flame quest.

At one point in the map at the top, close to the end of the route, we make a sharp turn to the east and head along a side path. This is because there is a blockade with two cyclopes and several orcs, which are incredibly difficult to deal with. It’s better to avoid that fight if you can, and the red wolves on the side path are far more manageable.

When you reach the capital, a woman named Menella will hail you and beckon you inside the nearby tavern. Speak with her about the Battahli’s plight, and you’ll finally complete this quest. You’ll get the Sunbloom and a Battahl Residence Permit as a reward.

Completing the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Nation of the Lambent Flame quest sounds so easy on paper, but we promise you it’s far trickier for the untrained and ill-prepared. We recommend you level up the best Dragon’s Dogma 2 vocations on offer and bring in some fresh Dragon’s Dogma 2 pawns with high enough levels to survive the treacherous journey.
