The FFXIV City of Ancients quest is part of the main scenario so, if you want to see the full Shadowbringers story in all its dramatic bombast, you’re going to need to solve it eventually. The trouble is, the game doesn’t tell you explicitly where you need to go, and the new area you need to search is pretty sizeable.
City of the Ancients in FF14 is a level 79 Main Scenario Quest (MSQ), so you’ll need to have put a decent chunk of time into the story of the third major expansion to the resurgent MMO. In this quest, Seeker of the Sun Y’Shtola Rhul tasks you with finding a certain structure that resembles the FFXIV Qitana Ravel mural. When you find it to successfully complete the objective, you’ll be rewarded with 820K XP and 968 Gil.
As you’ll know from our FFXIV leveling guide, MSQs are one of the best ways of progressing through the ranks fast, so you’re going to want to head to the peaks of The Norvrandt Slope to get this done. Not only is it an exceptional view, but you can then move past this tricky stage and crack on with becoming a Warrior of Darkness. So, here’s how to find the FFXIV City of the Ancients quest solution.

The map of the mural shows a structure set against a backdrop of mountains and shooting stars in the sky. The quest description reads: “Find a structure which resembles those in the copy of the Qitana Ravel mural, then inspect it from the survey point.” Those are the extent of the clues you have to go on but, to save you some crucial questing and exploring time, the desired spot can be found in the hills of The Norvrandt Slope, northwest of the main hub area in The Tempest.
To be specific, the coordinates are 22.0 , 11.0. This should take you to the peak of a hill that overlooks bowl-shaped terrain full of greenery and trees with more mountains in the background. Right click on the spot with bright sparks rising from it and a cutscene will play to confirm that you’ve finished the task.
