Now that the Fortnite World Cup is over, players are looking ahead to season 10 of Epic’s battle royale, which kicks off in a few days on August 1. Fortnite season 10 looks set to hold some exciting things – it’ll likely bring big map changes, a new storyline, and of course a Battle Pass packed with new cosmetics, gear, and more. Following a teaser that was unveiled at the World Cup, however, it looks like it might also bring a touch of nostalgia.
The teaser, posted on the Fortnite Twitter page (via PCGamer, and which you can check out further down the article), shows the Fortnite logo emblazoned on a giant X – and sitting above the unmistakable Dusty Depot, a location from the game’s early days which was hit pretty hard by Season 4’s meteor. The Tweet just says “Think back. 8.1.2019.”
It looks then that players could be treated to some kind of return to the game’s past – but it’s not clear what this will be yet. Perhaps it could be the reintroduction of locations like Dusty Depot from former Fortnite maps, the return of some gameplay modes or features, or even a potential time travel option to the older days of Fortnite. Luckily we’ve only got a couple of days to wait so it won’t be long until we find out for sure.
Judging by users’ reactions to the mysterious tweet, it looks like the prospect of a return to at least some of Fortnite’s former locations is a pretty exciting thing for some players, with some saying the hint has given them ‘chills’ and others all-but ready to shed some (hopefully happy) tears at the idea.
