Our Verdict
With gorgeous light quality for streaming, a physical remote control for changing settings easily and an integrated battery, Lume Cube's Cordless Ring Light Pro is probably one of the best of its type on the market. Due to its premium price, it's probably not the best ring light for you if you're on a budget. However, as it comes bundled with a sturdy light stand, smartphone and camera mount and travel case, it does offer real value for money and real high lighting performance.

Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light Pro specs
These are the Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light Pro specs:
Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light Pro features
This 17-inch ring light has got everything a streamer could ask for – and then some. Out of the box, it comes with a fully adjustable 18-70-inch stand, enabling you to set it up at any height whether you’re slouched on one of the best gaming chairs or standing upright. A travel case is also included for easy storage or transportation.
The color temperature of the Ring Light Pro is adjustable from 3200-5600K, so you can match the illumination to the surrounding light in your room – whether it’s natural daylight, tungsten light bulbs, or LED accent lights.
As the name would suggest, the Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light Pro is fully wireless. Its internal battery boasts up to 120 minutes on a single charge (with around 70 minutes at maximum brightness), after which you can connect to mains power (cord included) and use it while it charges. It cannot be charged via USB, though it does have a pair of USB-A ports so that you can charge or power other devices while you stream.
An LCD panel on the back of the light gives a real-time readout of your color temperature, brightness, and how much battery time is left using your current settings. There are a pair of knurled dials to make adjustments, but brilliantly a physical remote control is also included – no more fumbling blindly, now you can easily (and discreetly) fine-tune your lighting without moving.
Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light Pro design
At 17.5 inches, the Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light Pro is among the larger streaming lights – though the manufacturer’s non-Pro version is slightly bigger at 18 inches. However, unlike any other streaming lights I’ve used, this features Lume Cube’s Edge-Lit Technology – whereby the 256 LEDs face inwards, with built-in diffusion, to deliver the most sumptuous light I’ve ever seen from a ring light. The lighting quality is soft but powerful, providing even coverage on my face for a flattering look.
The design and construction of the Pro is also a cut above the standard version. The quality of the rear LCD is much improved, and the integrated battery makes for a far sleeker and sturdier (not to mention much lighter) feel. The tilting bracket (facilitating 180° of tilt) is also much sturdier here – I never used it face-down on the regular Cordless Ring Light for fear of it breaking.
All the control dials are smooth and responsive, and they provided me with enough resistance for fine-tuning without sending my settings all over the place if I happened to brush them by accident. A special mention should also go to the included lighting stand and travel case, which are both very robust (infinitely more so than the cheap ones often bundled with ring lights!).
Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light Pro performance
The Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light Pro performs flawlessly – principally where it counts, with its flawless light quality. Having a physical remote is an absolute game-changer. Some other streaming ring lights offer apps, but these are so often unreliable – dropping out constantly or lagging when you make an adjustment – and require you to have your phone on standby. I found I could tap the remote as easily as changing the channel on my TV, and it was easy to do at the same time as streaming for a seamless bit of content creation.
Not only is the light large enough to provide a great spread of illumination, but it also accommodates pretty much any kind of video gear. A rotatable phone mount is included, but there is also a standard camera mount to accommodate just about any size camera – as you can see below, it’s more than big enough for my full-frame Canon EOS R5. If you’re using a smaller dedicated streaming camera, you’ll have all the support you need. There is simply nothing to fault in terms of performance here!
Should you buy the Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light Pro?
- Yes: It has the best light quality for streamers
- Yes: It has the best features and controls
- No: It’s more expensive than its rivals
If you’re a streamer who wants a bright, flattering, and easy-to-use light to boost your content, the Lume Cube Cordless Ring Light Pro is for you. It’s unsurpassed in every respect but one: price. Other ring lights and light panels are more affordable, but none offer the all-around performance or the same quality of light.
The only potential drawback of the Cordless Ring Light Pro is if you want a device that can be powered by USB (if a mains outlet is not available), or one that has removable batteries (for continued use on the go). Otherwise, the Ring Light Pro is in a league of its own.
