To increase your settlement level in Manor Lords, you need to complete various tasks that involve upgrading and improving your settlement. You can check which task will get you to the next level by hovering over the settlement name to bring up the list of requirements to reach the next level. For example, to reach level two, you need to build 7x level one Manor Lords burgage plots and 5x level two burgage plots.

Once you reach a new level, you gain one development point which you can spend in the management tab, using it to specialize in an area of production. It’s worth noting what resources you have nearby, and how fertile your soil is, before starting to spend these points.
