Which Minecraft Dungeons difficulty setting should you choose? If you’re starting out in Minecraft Dungeons, you may be new to the world of top down action-RPGs, a hack and slash style genre where you build character abilities and move through waves of enemies. In Minecraft Dungeons you’re tasked with storming through levels to take down mobs and free villages from the wicked clutches of the evil Arch Illager.

If you’ve played through a couple of levels, you may find it too easy, or too hard – good news. You can adjust the difficulty easily before jumping in to each level. There is the overall difficulty, which has three different levels: default, adventure, and apocalypse. You’ll need to complete the game on each previous difficulty setting to unlock the next, thus proving yourself worthy of taking on the next apocalyptic challenge. Here’s how long Minecraft Dungeons is – so you can power through to reach a higher tier. As you progress in the difficulty setting, there is a better chance of finding Minecraft Dungeon artifacts and ultra good rewards, such as the best Minecraft Dungeon enchantments.

Within each Minecraft Dungeons difficulty there’s also a threat slider, which ranges from one to six, with one being the least offensive, and six being very challenging. Minecraft Dungeons will recommend the difficulty and threat slider to you based on your current level – making it easy to gauge how comfortable your current skills will be. If however, you want more of a challenge, here’s all you need to know about the difficulty settings and threat slider in Minecraft Dungeons.

We tried and tested all these settings within the threat slider, even ones above the recommended amount, and it does provide much more of a challenge. As a level 10, we took on a level 27 suggestion, with dire results. We recommend going up one on the slider for more of a challenge, maybe two if you’re confident.
