Monster Hunter: World is getting an Assassin’s Creed crossover

Earn Senu's feathers to craft Bayek's layered armor and a new Assassin's Hood mantle.

Crossovers have long been a feature of Monster Hunter games, and Monster Hunter: World is continuing the tradition – the Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia will be visiting the New World some time this coming year, and we’ve now learned there’s an Assassin’s Creed collaboration as well.

The limited-time event is live now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but we PC players will have to wait a bit longer for our shot. When it arrives, you’ll be able to take on the Event Quest “SDF: Silent, Deadly, Fierce” in order to unlock the Assassin’s Hood mantle, which provides a boost to damage when you attack from stealth. You also get a boost to your climbing and running speeds after crouching with the hood, and hey, it looks pretty cool, too.

The event quest has you taking on a group of “nimble, fierce, and impetuous monsters” in the arena, specifically the high-rank versions Odogaron, Deviljho, and Lunastra. Completing the quest will earn you a feather from Senu, Bayek’s eagle companion from Assassin’s Creed Origins. Using these, you’ll be able to craft Bayek’s layered armor, which can be worn over your favorite armor set.

Here’s the trailer for the Monster Hunter: World/Assassin’s Creed collaboration event:

Past events in Monster Hunter: World have featured Mega Man and Devil May Cry, and with the newly reworked combat in Assassin’s Creed, this is a mashup that simply makes sense – although Bayek mostly had to worry about crocodiles and hippos, rather than Deviljho and Rathalos.

There’s no date set yet for the crossover to launch on PC, but Capcom says it’s definitely happening – just at “a later date.” We’ll be waiting, patiently.
