Ni no Kuni 2’s first DLC is coming in August, and it’s free

Ni no Kuni 2 is getting three major DLCs, the first of which is due in August and is free

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is already a pretty big game, and it’s set to get even bigger. Its first DLC pack launches in August, and two more major content drops are planned for this winter and early 2019.

Bandai Namco outlined the DLC plans for Ni no Kuni II this week. The first is a free expansion that will show up August 9th. The company says it’s an ‘Adventure Pack,’ and it’s meant for experienced players. The Adventure Pack will add new floors to the Faraway Forest Cave, two new bosses named Blackhart and Zeta, and several new post-game quests. To top it off, you’ll be able to find new costumes and rewards while playing the high-level adventures.

Two paid DLCs will launch later on, Bandai Namco said. These will be individually purchasable, or available to season pass holders. The first is set to launch this winter, and centers on a new, “enigmatic” dungeon to explore. The publisher didn’t share many details, but there’s a strong suggestion that it will be a mix of increasingly-challenging combat and puzzles.

The second piece of premium DLC should arrive in early 2019, and features a story expansion to Ni no Kuni II’s main questline. Bandai Namco would only say that it’s “full of exciting content,” which is definitely what you want in a paid expansion.

The company says it’ll have more details to share eventually, but in the meantime, the first free content drop is just around the corner. That’s as much of an excuse as we’ll need to jump back into Ni no Kuni II’s Studio Ghibli-inspired world of magical higgledies and gambling cat people.
