In a first look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s 2v2 Gunfight mode earlier this year, PCGamesN’s own Jordan Forward called it his “dream game mode,” the “perfect middle ground between casual and competitive play.” Now, the mode is getting an extension, with a Gunfight Tournament beta that’s live to play for a limited time right now.

As announced on the Activision blog, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunfight Tournament launches from the multiplayer mode, which sees players given one life, one loadout (randomly selected), one buddy to get stuck into a battle with, and two foes to take out. The post explains that the tournament is “single elimination with 32 players, 16 teams, and eight rounds on the way to being crowned the victor. You advance with a win or go back to the lobby with a defeat.”

The rewards? With every win you get XP and other goodies, and if you score a tournament victory for the first time, a “high tier cosmetic reward” and XP are up for grabs. Judging by a post on Reddit, it looks like the first place Gunfight Tournament prize is a Royal Decree .50 weapon skin. Get a look below.

Activision says the mode is “bracket style,” and players will get to see the teams on both sides, choose their Operator, and discuss tactics in a pre-match menu screen. Players advance through rounds by winning, but the developer asks them to note that they might just need to wait in the lobby for a little bit until your opponent finishes their own match.

This follows a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare patch that turns off spawn cameras for two game modes. The Gunfight Tournament beta is already live but will only be available for a limited time, so if you want to get stuck in, the sooner the better.
