Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2 roadmap has loads of new modes, but no battle royale

Modern Warfare gets competitive - of a sort - with the CDL playlist

After a load of leaks and early teases, Activision and Infinity Ward have officially lifted the veil on what to expect with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2 release date. There’s more than what we’ve already seen in the leaked Season 2 trailer, though – we’ve now got a full roadmap of the new content, including loads of additional multiplayer modes.

Perhaps the most notable is the CDL playlist, which will bring the competitive Call of Duty League rules to your online games. The official site says this playlist alters “the settings and available weapons, maps, and modes” – which likely means this will be the first time normal Modern Warfare players will get access to a mode with a minimap.

Launch day also brings us Gunfight Tournaments – for a limited time – where 32 teams enter for 2v2 battles. Later in the season, we’ll get the objective mode Demolition, which has competing teams working to attack or destroy bomb sites. We’ll also see an Infected version of Ground War, and NVG Reinforce – a “hybrid objective mode that blends elements of Domination with Search & Destroy.”

Notably, the roadmap includes no mention of battle royale, something plenty of CoD fans have been asking for since Black Ops 4’s surprisingly robust take on the mode.
