Can you fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2? The journey is the more worthy part, the real adventure was the friends we made along the way, etc. Exploration in RPGs is part of the fun, and wandering can sometimes be more fruitful than mainlining the story, but there are occasions when you need to get someplace fast, and that’s where fast travel comes in.
We’re deep into the rich RPG game that Capcom has crafted. Taking down monsters, having nice chats with townfolk, taking down some more monsters; it’s all in a day’s work for a Dragon’s Dogma 2 Pawn, but what do you do if you need to get across the DD2 map quickly? Here’s how to fast travel in DD2.
How do you fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
There are two methods of fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Ferrystones and Oxcarts. Ferrystones will allow you to teleport to Portcrystals, but these items are expensive, and difficult to find. The lower-key of the two methods, the Oxcart, will allow you to fast travel along certain routes, but doing so may leave you open to ambush.
In an interview with IGN, Dragon’s Dogma 2 Director, Hideaki Itsuno, gave a little flavor on what traveling by Oxcart entails: “While riding one, you might find the path blocked by goblins and have no choice but to get off and join the battle. Then as you do, a Griffin might swoop in and destroy the entire cart with one blow, forcing you to walk the rest of the way while cursing its name.”
Even though you’re in the process of fast traveling, the world still moves, and can still be dangerous. Oxcarts can offer the illusion of convenience, and that’s what they’ll be most of the time, but like a lot of Dragon’s Dogma 2, adventure can strike at any moment.
