What are Dragon’s Dogma 2 Portcrystals? As you’ll likely know by now, the map in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is pretty big. If you’re content with walking everywhere, then good on you; the amount of accidental adventure you can experience while wandering is what makes the game so special. But what happens if you don’t particularly want to walk everywhere, and want to return to a particular point on the map? Well, that’s where Portcrystals come in.
With the Dragon’s Dogma 2 release date finally here, players are getting stuck into the wonderful, and often weird, RPG game, and are quickly realizing that getting about the huge open world takes some time. This is where Dragon’s Dogma 2 fast travel comes into play, and Portcrystals are a vital part of that.
What are Dragon’s Dogma 2 Portcrystals?
Portcrystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are locations you’re able to fast travel to using Dragon’s Dogma 2 Ferrystones. There are two types of Portcrystals: one is permanent, and the other is portable.
They can be in fixed locations on the map (a city, for instance), or can be placed by the player if they’re able to find a portable Portcrystal. Utilizing Portcrystals is an easy way to get around the Dragon’s Dogma 2 map, and can save players a lot of time as long as they have enough Ferrystones to perform the teleport.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Portcrystals locations
While you might assume Dragon’s Dogma 2 contains Portcrystals at every big city, you’d be wrong. Though there are three large regions in the game, there are only two permanent Portcrystals on the entire map, and both are in the human kingdom of Vermund.
The Portcrystals on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 map are located in:
- Vernworth
- Harve
Sadly, these two locations are fairly close to each other on the map, and to make matters worse, you can take an oxcart from Vernworth to Harve. Fortunately, you can set your own fast travel locations using portable Portcrystals.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a limited number of portable Portcrystals that you can use to place your own fast travel locations. The first time you obtain one of these items is during the Captain Brant quest, ‘Feast of Deception‘.
The following quests reward you with a Portcrystal in Dragon’s Dogma 2:
- Feast of Deception
- A Trail of Archery
- A Game of Wits (Sphinx riddles)
Of course, you could cut out the lengthy quests entirely when playing on PC and simply rely on Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods. All you need to do is add a shop which sells Portcrystals, and you can even set the price and the weight, making the game as convenient as you’d like.
Now you know how Dragon’s Dogma 2 Portcrystals function, and where to find them, you’ll always have the option to fast travel to a safe place.
