How to unlock the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior vocation

The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior vocation is the perfect step up from your standard heavy melee class, so here’s how to unlock it early.

A Beastren Pawn clad in heavy armor with a greatsword strapped to his back, the standard equipment for a Dragon's Dogma 2 Warrior.

How do you unlock the Warrior vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2? If you’re looking for a more aggressive frontline defense than the shield-bearing Fighter, then look no further than the Warrior. This advanced vocation can wield two-handed weapons like greatswords and hammers to devastating effect, and while they don’t have a shield to protect themselves, they can still withstand enemy attacks thanks to their heavy armor.

As you might expect, the Warrior is one of the best Dragon’s Dogma 2 vocations for frontline melee support, making it the perfect choice for any Arisen who considers themselves a heavy-hitting brawler – or a glass cannon in need of a Dragon’s Dogma 2 Pawn that can draw aggro. Thankfully, the method to unlock the Warrior vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is pretty straightforward, though you need to run a quick errand in the RPG game first. Here’s how to unlock this powerful advanced vocation.

Klaus the Vocation Guild leader at Vernworth, who gives you the quest to retrieve a greatsword and unlock the Dragon's Dogma 2 Warrior vocation.

How to unlock the Warrior vocation

You can unlock the Warrior vocation by delivering any greatsword to Klaus at the Vernworth Vocation Guild during the Vocation Frustration quest.

You can find several greatswords while exploring the Dragon’s Dogma 2 map, but the easiest way to get one is by completing the ‘Vocation Frustration’ quest that Klaus assigns you once you speak to him for the first time. This Dragon’s Dogma 2 quest sends you to the Trevo Mine northwest of Vernworth to retrieve stolen equipment for Roderick the Blacksmith.

Defeat the goblins in the mine and climb up the ledge on the right-hand side of the tunnel. Continue along this path until you reach the treasure chest that contains the Two-Hander greatsword. You can then return to Klaus to unlock the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior vocation.

Before you head back, continue down to the lower level of the caves to retrieve the Grievous Horns archistaff, which you can also hand in to Klaus to complete the ‘Vocation Frustration’ quest in its entirety. This is also how to unlock the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer vocation while you’re at it.

The Arisen retrieves the greatsword required to unlock the Dragon's Dogma 2 Warrior vocation from a treasure chest in Trevo Mine.

If you’ve accidentally sold the greatsword required to unlock the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior vocation, don’t panic. You can purchase greatswords and archistaffs at the Checkpoint Rest Town at the border between Vermund and Battahl, which you can quickly reach via the Dragon’s Dogma 2 fast travel oxcart located on the west side of Vernworth – though it will cost you a pretty penny.

Once you’ve unlocked the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior vocation, be sure to brush up on the best Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior skills to purchase with your Discipline Points. It’s also well worth looking out for the best Dragon’s Dogma 2 weapons and Dragon’s Dogma 2 armor in the open-world game, so you can kit yourself out with the best equipment regardless of your vocation.
