If you’re hoping to cause chaos across the island with a War Bus in Fortnite, you’ll first need to know where to find one and how to take it over. We’ve got all the information you need, including how to track them on the Fortnite map as well as tips on how to defeat the patrollers who guard them.
Where to find Fortnite War Bus
In every match, you’ll be able to find a War Bus being driven around the Fortnite map by aggressive NPCs known as patrollers. This means their locations aren’t static, so you’ll need to keep track of them and follow them around the Island to begin the takeover process.
Fortunately, the War Bus shows up on the in-game map as a moving gold icon, so you can plan your landing path slightly ahead of it at the start of a match. There will also be two static gold icons on the map indicating boss NPCs that aren’t on a War Bus, so don’t go after those by accident.
How to take over the War Bus in Fortnite
As you might have guessed, taking over a War Bus isn’t going to be easy. Each one is driven by dangerous NPCs known as patrollers, who will attack when provoked and do whatever they can to stop you from getting your hands on their vehicle. You’ll also have to contend with a boss NPC who drives in a beefed-up car ahead of the War Bus.
Get some weapons and a car
Our first piece of advice is to stock up on some decent weapons, particularly mid-range guns like assault rifles. Taking the War Bus on with an empty loadout is a surefire way to get yourself eliminated, and mid-range guns will let you attack from a relatively safe distance. It’s also a good idea to fill up your shields and get a vehicle so you can keep up with the War Bus.
Take out the cannon operators
On top of the War Bus, there are two cannons, which are great if you’re driving the bus but not so great if you’re on the outside. If possible, eliminate the patrollers who are using these cannons first so you don’t need to worry about being bombarded by their attacks. This should make the rest of your takeover run a little smoother.
Damage the War Bus
Once the War Bus patrollers have set their sights on you, things start to get hectic. You’re going to have to contend with the rampaging War Bus itself as well as the boss NPC that drives alongside it — and potentially other players, too!
At this point, your focus should be on damaging the War Bus, forcing it off the road, and staying alive long enough for the patrollers to exit the vehicle. Once they’ve done that, you can either fight them or — if you’re sneaky like us — simply jump inside the empty War Bus and drive away. Just be aware of the vehicle’s health as it could be running quite low by this point.
