Teamfight Tactics is so popular it’s breaking the League of Legends PBE

Riot wants to shorten those queue times

If you’ve been having trouble logging into the League of Legends PBE over the past couple of days, you’re not alone. The addition of Teamfight Tactics to the PBE has been so overwhelmingly popular that login queues have filled up by the thousands and players have been forced to wait for hours to get in – so now Riot’s expanding the capacity of those test servers.

“We are so sorry for everyone that’s been unable to play so far,” Teamfight Tactics lead Richard Henkel tweets, “especially those that get to the front of the queue only to get an error. We’re going to try to slowly raise our cap on the PBE to get more folks in, but will be doing so slowly to not risk bringing the PBE down. For all those that have spent hours in queue, I hope we can get you in today, thank you so much for your patience.”

Riot’s been working to expand the PBE in light of Teamfight Tactics’ popularity for a bit now, as Ed Altorfer tweeted on June 18 that “We’re assessing whether we can increase it but we wanna make sure things are looking good first.”

Hopefully this all means you’ll be able to get into TFT more quickly soon, and without many tech issues on the way.

Teamfight Tactics has already rocketed to the top of the Twitch charts, even in a somewhat limited beta, and it’s been staying there – which certainly bodes well for the mode’s full release.
