Overwatch Contenders, the tournament series for teams competing for a shot in the Overwatch League, has kicked off their new season, with twelve teams from each of seven regions across the globe.

Action started early today with Team Gigantti beating Orgless and Hungry 3-1, and the British Hurricane taking a 4-0 sweep against Team Singularity in European play. Still to come today are the North American matchups between Last Night’s Leftovers and the Grizzlys, XL2 Academy vs. Toronto Esports, and Gladiators Legion taking on Mayhem Academy.
Overwatch Contenders is a chance for top amateur teams to get noticed by pro scouts and potentially pick up sponsorships. And of course, the cash prizes for the top four teams are rather nice.
