These actors got cast in Pillars of Eternity II after playing D&D on YouTube

Pillars of Eternity 2 romance

The talented cast of Geek & Sundry’s Critical Role announced that they all had voice parts in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire at PAX East Saturday afternoon.

Get ready for another big adventure by reading up on Pillars of Eternity’s unique lore.

For the unfamiliar, Critical Role is an online Dungeons & Dragons show featuring Matthew Mercer as the Dungeon Master. Mercer is ubiquitous in game voiceover – he’s appeared in countless titles doing the often-thankless work of “additional voices,” but he’s also the voice of Overwatch’s McCree and voiced both Edér Teylecg and Aloth Corfiser in the first Pillars of Eternity.

He’s returning to those roles in Deadfire, but this time he’s bringing along the heavyweight VO talent he’s been playing D&D with. There’s Marisha Ray (she and Mercer are married), who has done voice work in Metal Gear Solid V and Fire Emblem Warriors; Taliesin Jaffe, the voice of Haruomi Makabe in God Eater 2; and Liam O’Brien, who voiced Gollum in Middle-earth: Shadow of War.

The whole cast has acting and voiceover credits that span the breadth of the games industry, and many have also performed voices for English anime dubs.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is due out May 8th, and you can check out Critical Role on the Geek & Sundry YouTube channel, or watch live Thursday nights on Twitch.
