As Rainbow Six Siege continues its years of success, the developers are going to have to keep building new ops with new abilities and gadgets to keep things fresh. One possible idea is an operator with dual pistols, old-school Lara Croft style. Ubisoft has experimented with just such a new operator, but definitely don’t expect it in the near future.
“This is something that we always think about,” presentation director Alexander Karpazis says. “But when you start thinking about dual pistols, you now have to introduce this entirely new to play the game. We have thought about a character dual wielding. We have never prototyped it yet, though. Not yet. It’s a really cool idea, but I don’t know if we’ll ever get there in the near future.”
Karpazis also broached the possibility of more elite skins coming for each operator, saying “Why only two elite uniforms? Why not three? We’ll see.” You can see all those answers in the full video from Wired. (Our potential dual pistol operator is addressed at 1:06.)
Karpazis is getting out there in all sorts of weird ways, as he’s also doing (very positive) critiques of players’ outfits and loadouts.
The year 4 roadmap still has another stop to make, but don’t expect double guns out of either of those operators – we’re still waiting to see what the future holds for them.
