Activision has revealed all the new content coming in the first season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and it’s a meaty selection, to say the least. New guns, modes, maps, and more make up what’s being touted as the “biggest free content drop in Call of Duty history”.
Beginning December 3 on all platforms, season one of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will bring an impressive array of free DLC that should help keep the game fresh for just about whatever kind of gameplay you’re looking for. The Ram-7 and Holder-26 are the new guns that will be on offer, while four new Spec-Ops experiences are coming, alongside three 2v2 Gunfight maps, one new Ground war map, and three remastered classic multiplayer maps.
What’s most exciting, though, are the new modes; Reinforce, Gunfight OSP, and Infected. Gunfight OSP – On-Site Procurement – is a Gunfight variant wherein players spawn with nothing and must find their weapons around the map. It had alpha earlier this year. Assuming it’s the same as the other multiplayer modes of the same name, Infected is a survival mode involving players trying to avoid infection, as the title suggests, before a timer runs, and has featured in a number of previous Call of Duty games. Reinforce is new, but since things start dropping December 3, we don’t have long to wait to begin experiencing it for ourselves.
The remastered maps will all be familiar to old school Call of Duty players. Crash, Shipment, and Vacant each made their first appearance in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and several installments since. The well-trodden landscapes will no doubt provide some lovely nostalgia to many older CoD enthusiasts, all the while giving newbies a taste of just what made that original Modern Warfare such a hit.
Our most ambitious season of content ever.
