Amazon France lists Mario, Persona, and Last of Us for PC, publishers deny everything

Amazon France did publish an early Horizon: Zero Dawn PC listing months ago, but today's 'leaks' are looking a lot shakier

Earlier today, you might’ve seen word that Persona 5, or Super Mario Odyssey, or The Last of Us Part 2, or one of approximately a bazillion other games was getting a port to PC. All these bits came courtesy of a series of new store listings on Amazon France, and all serve as reminders that store listings are not necessarily the most reliable sources for videogame leaks.

Today, we saw listings for “Windows” versions of PlayStation 4 exclusives like Days Gone, Persona 5 Royal, Gran Turismo Sport, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and The Last of Us Part II go live on Amazon France. The listing frenzy even included a Nintendo-published PC edition of Super Mario Odyssey.

Sega was the first to respond, telling PC Gamer that the Persona 5 Royal “listing is an error and we’re looking into having it taken down and how it happened.” Sony similarly responded to IGN, saying “the listings are not accurate. We have made no announcements to bring these games to PC.”

Sony had also made no announcement prior to Amazon France listing Horizon Zero Dawn on PC a few months ago, and now that port is officially announced and scheduled to hit Steam later this year. But then, Amazon France also listed Bloodborne for PC all the way back in 2015, and it really seems that HZD was a ‘broken clock’ situation.

It’s not impossible that any of these titles will eventually join the ranks of upcoming PC games – the Horizon port has opened the door to Sony first-party ports and Atlus has been giving glimmers of hope about Persona on PC for ages. Just don’t take any of these store listings as a final announcement. And definitely never make a bet on Mario returning to PC.

Unless Walmart Canada tells you about it – then it must be true. Except for the new Splinter Cell game. That still hasn’t happened. Store listings, am I right?
