Square Enix's Stay Home & Play bundle is a bargain on some classic RPGs

We’re all having to find ways to occupy our time during these days of staying home and preventing the spread of the coronavirus. Square Enix has decided to help out by offering four classic JRPGs at a steep discount on Steam, giving you plenty of game time to fill up the hours with.

The Square Enix Stay Home & Play JRPG Collection is a Steam bundle that includes Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Oninaki, and the 16-bit classic Chrono Trigger.

According to How Long to Beat, Dragon Quest XI alone takes at least 56 hours just to complete the main campaign, and if you’re into doing side content, you could easily be looking at more like 87 hours. A completionist run, the site says, clocks in at 126 hours.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is an oddity in the Final Fantasy catalogue, but that doesn’t mean you should pass it by – Kelly Pask wrote that it’s one of the best games in the series for both returning veterans and newcomers alike, and has more Star Wars DNA running through it than you might expect.

That story takes a good 40 hours to get through, and with the additional side content, optional objectives, and collectibles factored in, you’re looking at about 100 hours’ worth of game, according to How Long To Beat.

The bundle is currently 72% off the usual asking price of $174.96 USD, now marked down to $49.84. You can buy each game individually for 50% off right now, but you get a substantial additional discount for buying the whole bundle.

If you’re staying home and looking for a big RPG world to get stuck into for the upcoming week, this is a very good option.
