God of War Ragnarok system requirements

We take a look at the minimum, recommended, high, performance, and ultra specs needed to run Kratos' Viking adventure on your gaming PC.

God of War Ragnarok system requirements kratos

What are the God of War Ragnarok system requirements? We now know that God of War Ragnarok will arrive on PC in September this year, and its system requirements span five categories. The requirements for 1080p play at 30fps aren’t too demanding, but you’ll need some serious power in your rig if you want to play the game at 4K.

You don’t quite need the very best graphics card to run God of War: Ragnarok at 4K resolution, but it’s not far off. However, if you’re only looking to play at low settings at 1080p, the ubiquitous Nvidia GTX 1060 is still capable of playing the game.

Here are the God of War: Ragnarok system requirements:

Minimum (1080p, 30fps) Recommended (1080p, 60fps)
OS Windows 10 or later Windows 10 or later
GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060
AMD Radeon RX 5500XT
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super
AMD Radeon RX 5700
CPU Intel Core i5 4670K
AMD Ryzen 3 1200
Intel Core i5 8600
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
RAM 8GB 16GB
Storage 190GB SSD 190GB SSD

Take our God of War Ragnarok system requirements PC benchmark test to answer the question… Can I run God of War Ragnarok?

The God of War Ragnarok minimum requirements aren’t too demanding, with either a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 5500 XT standing you in good stead to play the game at 1080p with low settings. The CPU demands are slight as well, with the quad-core Intel Core i5 4670K and AMD Ryzen 3 1200 doing the job. You only need 8GB of RAM for this setup too.

Meanwhile, the God of War recommended specs raise the bar to playing at 1080p with medium settings at 60fps, and require a minimum of an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super or an AMD Radeon RX 5700, along with a more recent six-core CPU, such as the Core i5 8600 or Ryzen 5 3600. You also need 16GB of RAM to meet this spec.

Three other system requirements tiers have also been revealed, with the high section occupying the usual recommended bracket, targeting 1440p gameplay at 60fps with high settings. The God of War high specs require you to step up another generation in graphics, with either an Nvidia RTX 3070 or Radeon RX 6800 XT. These specs also recommend at least an eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 2700X CPU, or an Intel ore i7 7700K.

Next up, are the God of War performance specs, which are mostly the same as the high specs, but upgrade the GPU to at least a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti or a Radeon RX 6900 XT – right at the top of Nvidia and AMD’s last-gen GPU ranges. With one of these GPUs in your system, you should be able to hit 60fps at 4K with high settings.

Finally, the god tier comes with the God of War ultra specs, which up the ante for 60fps 4K play at ultra settings, and require at least an eight-core Ryzen 7 3700X or six-core Core i5 11600K gaming CPU, along with a current-gen GPU. You’ll need at least an RTX 4070 Ti, or a Radeon RX 7900 XT, to meet this spec.

Nvidia DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel XeSS 1.3 were all confirmed during the reveal trailer, alongside ultrawide support. The upscaling tech will help less powerful graphics cards, provided they’re supported, to reach higher frame rates.

The God of War Ragnarok download size is 190GB, so you’ll need plenty of free storage space to accommodate this game, as it’s massive. The system requirements also specify the need for an SSD, rather than a hard drive, so you’ll want to be using one of the best SSDs for gaming to make sure your drive is as fast as possible. Or just check the latest, best deals on SSDs.

With the God of War Ragnarok PC release date now set, it won’t be long before PC users can play this game. I also expect God of War Ragnarok to be Steam Deck compatible, but recent PS5 ports have struggled to obtain a rating.
