How do you complete the Dragon’s Dogma 2 The Stolen Throne quest? One of the simpler requests from Captain Brant requires you to infiltrate a masquerade ball where, reportedly, the false Sovran parties all night long. However, you won’t get inside with those rags you call clothes.

No, if you’re going to complete this Dragon’s Dogma 2 quest, you’re going to need to get some fancy threads. While there are a few methods to get them, the easiest one of them will take you to one of the main Dragon’s Dogma 2 characters. We’ll guide you through getting these clothes for free without resorting to thievery and where to find the masquerade ball in The Stolen Throne.

The Arisen is talking with Sven near a fountain to get Courtly Clothes in Dragon's Dogma 2 The Stolen Throne quest.

How to get Courtly Clothes

While you could just buy the clothes from a vendor in Vernworth market, they’re rather expensive. You could also pinch them from a chest in the castle during one of the other quests, such as during Dragon’s Dogma 2 Disa’s Plot, but this introduces a risk of getting caught.

If you’re risk-averse and want an easier, although longer, method, you can befriend Sven, who’s hovering nearby a merchant’s stall in the town square. If you took medicine to Flora in Melve at the beginning of the game, you’ll get a discount here which will enable you to buy an Ornate Box for 800 gold. Now, Sven loves this Ornate Box, and if you gift it to him he’ll return to the square daily and bring you gifts. On the third day, he’ll return with the Courtly Clothes – the very same ones you need to get into the masquerade ball.

How to complete Dragon’s Dogma 2 The Stolen Throne quest

Once you have the Courtly Clothes and the mask you got from Captain Brant, equip them. Then, head into the castle at night and make your way to the building marked on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 map. If the guard outside stops you and says that there is no masquerade tonight, simply leave and wait at the bench until the next evening, then try again.

Once inside, you’ll notice one of the guests slip out of the party. Head to the back corridor and look for a hidden door. Follow it around to the back of a brothel. This is the Rose Chateau, and you’ll soon be discovered by Wilhelmina, one of the workers you may have met as part of the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Unsettling Encounter quest.

She’ll cover for you as guards begin knocking on doors, inquiring about you. She’ll then show you what the false Sovran is up to. When you regain control of the Arisen, you can freely leave the Rose Chateau and return to Captain Brant to inform him of what you saw. For completing the quest, you’ll receive a Wakestone Shard and 6,500 gold.

After that, you should have completed most of Captain Brant’s quests in Vernworth. A handful of them, such as the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Monster Culling or Dragon’s Dogma 2 Nameless Village quests, might not be as simple as they first appear – so we’d suggest checking out our walkthrough guides. We recommend that you also check out our Dragon’s Dogma 2 vocations guide to prepare yourself for the adventure ahead.
