Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has received its usual playlist update, making new ways to play one of the most popular FPS games. The new update, which does not require a download, adds an option to play 1v1 Gunfight, as well as a playlist dedicated to 5v5 matches on Shipment. Last week’s new addition, Grind, is gone from the playlist selection; it’s been replaced by the returning Gun Game.
Shipment arrived a few weeks ago as part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare season one. While many fans appreciate the map and hold a special place in their hearts for it given its history with the franchise since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, others have complained about its spawning problems in the newest CoD game.
Spawns have been one of Modern Warfare’s biggest problems, and Shipment’s small size has exacerbated this, according to some players. The move to a 5v5 format, rather than the usual 6v6, could be an attempt to counteract these issues.
Elsewhere, a new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update will add more custom loadout slots. “It’s in mainline back at the studio and we’ve been tinkering with it,” Infinity Ward art director Joel Emslie said on Reddit recently. “I’m not sure which update its in but I think it’s next.”
Finally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s esports events are being scaled back – reportedly because franchises were feeling “overwhelmed” with the proposed schedule. It’s also emerged that the game contains killer chairs, for some reason.
