Lachmann Sub (MP5)
A true all-rounder, the Lachmann Sub can be outfitted for close combat, or stabilised for mid-range engagements. If you don’t have all the attachments we list in our best loadout yet, generally you’ll want to equip things that increase the damage, range, and accuracy. This gun is suited to close-quarters combat, but the Warzone 2 map is so vast, there’ll be occasions where you’ll need to shoot at a longer range than is ideal, so kitting your Lachmann Sub out in preparation for that will save you from wildly spraying around your target instead of actually hitting them.
Fennec 45

The biggest risk you run with the Fennec is emptying the magazine before you’ve killed your enemy, especially if you’re fighting more than one foe at once, so the Fennec Mag 45 is a must. Much like the Lachmann Sub, improving recoil control and accuracy is important because the Fennec has a hell of a kick, so look for an underbarrel and/or rear grip that can assist on that front.
FSS Hurricane
Finding itself somewhere between an SMG and one of the best Warzone 2 assault rifles, the FSS Hurricane pushes the damage range of the SMG class further than most of the others in this guide, making it perfect to pair alongside a weapon with extreme range. Thanks to its already impressive range though, you may fare better by improving the close-quarters aspect of the gun and use it when you’re clearing buildings. The XTEN or Phantom rear grips are excellent for this, as are both Demo Quicksilver stocks. You can always whack a laser on it too if you want extra hip fire accuracy.
Vaznev-9K
The Vaznev-9K is the hardest-hitting SMG, but with that comes wild recoil and a distinct lack of range. You’ll be able to take down enemies quickly with this SMG, provided you can get your shots on target. Much like the FSS Hurricane, you’re better off using the Vaznev-9K like an assault rifle, and as a result, you’ll want it to be as accurate as possible. Most of the underbarrels slow down the ADS speed which isn’t ideal, but the Demo-X2 rear grip improves recoil control, while the SA Response III barrel has so many buffs, the ADS speed nerf is worth the trade-off.
BAS-P
The BAS-P is the first post-launch addition to the SMG lineup, and it’s a solid showing from the compact weapon. MX9
The MX9 is very similar to the AUG from previous games, both in looks and in the way it handles. Because of its controllable recoil, the MX9 can be used as a mid-range option, with barely any kickback once you start firing. VEL 46
The VEL 46, or the MP7, is a reliable SMG for firefights pushing the mid range, though it doesn’t do enough to make it to the top echelon of the category. Its high mobility, coupled with one of the best rates of fire in the SMG class makes it ideal to equip as a secondary weapon.
